Debut Authors Festival Again

The Debut Authors Festival now has its programme online. The organisers say the lack of poets this year is down to a lack of debut poets. All the more disappointing, then, that participation in the unpublished writers jam session is open to prose writers only.

A lack of debut poets? What can they possibly mean?

Well, that was more or less my reaction. The person I mailed said: "Yes, it's a shame, but there aren't that many newly published poets to chose from. I'm thrilled that the very marvellous Helen Farish can come though. ... All the best, and lots of luck with your poetry - I do try to support it wherever I can." I suppose we just need to support the sole poet on the bill and keep bloody writing.
